Bio
Welcome!
Hi, I'm Mrs. Galvez, welcome to Science! I have had the privilege of joining Holy Angels since 2021. I am a Southern California native and live with my husband, two young adults in college, and our friendly dogs, Basil and Mocha.
Education and Professional Background
I earned my Bachelor's degree from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, where I majored in Biological Sciences with a concentration in Biology. One memorable takeaway from my time in school was spending a summer in Costa Rica learning about the vast biodiversity of the cloud rainforest. I have private industry experience (in a pharmaceutical setting) and have worked with youth for over 15 years, from grades K-12 through scouting, focusing on youth development and mentorship. I earned a Master's in Teaching from the University of La Verne with an emphasis in Educational Technology, along with a preliminary Multiple and Single Subject credential (Science). I'm currently finalizing my credentials at California State University, Fullerton.
My Educational Philosophy
I believe that learning science should be fun and hands-on. My goal is for students to appreciate science and our natural world. As a teacher, I aim to encourage students' natural curiosity and a lifelong love of learning and asking questions so they can become well-informed world citizens.
